Charity athletics are beginning to become a trend in the cabling world as GPH’s own project manager Warren Tingling battled through the Blenheim Triathlon on 5th June in order to raise money for the Tropical Lagoon Ward at Queens Children’s Hospital. Not only did Warren swim 750m, he then went onto pedal a 20km bike ride and finish it off with a 5km run at the picturesque Blenheim Palace event at Woodstock, Oxfordshire.
Warren personally set himself a time of 2 hours but astonishingly managed to complete the course well under that, coming in at 1 hour and 49 minutes. His twelve months of training seemed to have paid off as his family and GPH managing director Ed Gormley watched him cross the finish line hardly out of breath!
The Tropical Lagoon Ward at Queens Children’s Hospital is a childhood cancer ward for which Warren aims to raise £3000, with GPH sponsoring him £500. This cause is held in high regard by GPH, as their golf day on 10th June at Woolston Manor, was also in aid of the Queens Hospital Ward. By raising money, Warren and GPH hope to make the ward more comfortable for children there and support the fantastic life saving work, which goes on every day.
